trips Franciscan monastery Through over a century of the monastery, the Franciscans created a library with about 5000 books, 24 inkanabule, many periodicals and manuscripts. The monastery has a rich archive, which has deposited 369 Turkish documents. In front of a monastery is a church. In 2002. is a built The monument of friar teacher, the work of sculptor A. Jurkiæa.
With Franciscan monastery are cared for church Mary, which was built probably 1400th year. Church are several times burned and damaged , but also repaired. With these fixes were incorporated new elements , often purchased at island builder as cheaply and therefore some have obsolete.
After time the old church became too small , and there have been around 1910th to build a new church. The church was completed and dedicated in the 1940s. It is a kind of central structure with a dome. In the apse is a magnificent mosaic that shows Christ , God's creative wisdom , and his own gift of life to those who embrace it ( in a row are Croatian saints , the blessed and ordinary believers ) . Mosaic is the work of the painter Joseph Biffel.
